The model
A production label
Most studios sell hours. Most labels sign records that already exist. Authxntic does the third thing. The record is made in our room, by the producer who is also the label, and it is released through the label's catalogue. Artists come in on the strength of the music, and the arrangement is built around them.
Sessions
Three ways in
- Room and time
- The room, self-engineered. The recording is yours once the session is paid.
- With an engineer
- The room and Nicky at the desk. The recording is yours once the session is paid.
- With a producer
- The room, the engineer and the producer, who brings the beat. This is the produced session, and it is the offer. It is booked on one of two licences.
- Non-exclusive
- The producer keeps the beat and may license it again. The record is released through Authxntic Records; net receipts are shared 50% to the artist and 50% to the label.
- Exclusive
- The beat is licensed to the artist alone for a fee. The record is the artist's to release.
- With a writer
- Songwriting in the room. The composition is a co-write on a split sheet.
The catalogue
Where the records go
Records made here are released through Authxntic Records and cleared through the label for film, television, advertising and brand work. The label distributes, administers and accounts. Writers keep their writer shares; 20% of the publishing on work made here is the company's, and the company administers it.
